DUO FAQ

Q: Why is the Duo not compatible with some PC models such as Sony and Toshiba?

A: Sony and Toshiba power inverters in their LCD panels emit RF interference which cause calibration issues with the Duo's tip location

Q: Can I use my finger for touch-screen funtionality?

A: No, you need to use the pen. The pen and receiver use two-way communication to coordinate the pen's position.

Q: Can I still use my existing keyboard and mouse?

A: Yes. The Duo does not interfere with your existing keyboard or mouse, you can use them interchangeably.

Q: Is the Duo difficult to install?

A: No. The Duo connects to your computer's USB port and has a magnetic deco mount which the receiver magnetically attaches to, either on the top or the side of your monitor. The magnetic mount ensures the Duo is in the same position if removed and re-installed, which alleviates the need for re-calibration.

Q: Will the Duo save writing directly into documents so I can save files, such as a Word Document, and keep the writings within?

A: Yes, Microsoft Office programs include an inking function. Once the Duo is installed, your computer recognizes itself as a "tablet" and this inking option appears (go to Review > Start Inking). You can easily sign documents, grade papers, highlight text, and more without altering the file type.

Q: What if I am using a program that does not have an inking function built-in, such as Internet Explorer?

A: The Duo comes with an inking program called "Duo Board", this is a floating toolbar on your desktop which is used to write over any image on your desktop. You can then save these images via full-screen capture or drag and select (similar to Snag-it or Snipping Tool). Images save as JPEG.

Q: I have Windows XP which does not include Microsoft's built-in tablet software like Vista and 7 do. Will the Duo still work?

A: Yes, we also supply the Duo with this tablet software included on our software CD. If you have XP, you can easily add this feature in at no cost.

Q: I have an LCD screen that is larger than 17", will the Duo work for me?

A: We do not guarantee the Duo will work on screens larger than 17". The sonicwaves used to communicate pen position are spread too far in large LCD screens and the Duo's accuracy is compromised around the LCD's edges.

Q: What should I do if the Duo is not reaching the corners of my monitor?

A: Please verify your LCD monitor size is 17" or under and is not a Sony or Toshiba brand. Also, please verify you have the most recent software update ('check for update' button is in the PenOnPC settings). Make sure you have accurately calibrated the Duo and properly aligned the pen tip with the calibration points. The Duo may require occasional recalibration, especially if you frequently remove the Duo receiver from your monitor.
